Natalie MacLean is an author and wine influencer who hosts a
popular wine review website that has just been given a mobile
app. Her site, NatalieMacLean.com, hosts reviews from more than
170,000 self-proclaimed wine critics who post and share reviews.
With the Natalie MacLean Wine Scanner & Reviews mobile
app, the social reviews are helping consumers find the right
wine in stores. The app enables users to scan the front label
or bar code with their smartphones and automatically receive
reviews, ratings, tasting notes and food pairings. Other features on the app include a shopping list feature with a realtime inventory stock update for liquor stores nearby. There's
a locator to find stores carrying the wines on a shopper's list
as well as notifications that can be sent when a store stocks
up on that wine or has a new vintage. The app offers ways to
share reviews on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and includes wine videos and interviews with winemakers.

Twitter announced in a late-May blog post that it
is has loosened the reigns on its 140-character limit
within a post. The social platform made modifications
that will allow for some more flexibility when tweeting
out a message. For one, when a user replies to a Tweet,
whatever the @name is it will not count toward the
140-character limit. Same goes for adding an attachment like a GIF, video or poll - those will not be stealing away precious characters. Another new feature is a retweet button so a user can retweet or
"quote tweet" themselves when adding a new thought to a current tweet or sending out an older tweet again. Lastly, the @ symbol won't be required to broadcast a Tweet to all of an account's
followers. Simply put, these changes will enable users like brands and retailers to say more.
