Multicultural Summit Offers
'Cultural Immersion Tour'
DeerfielD, ill. - Hispanic supermarket chain Northgate Gonzalez
Markets and Middle Eastern grocer Vine Ripe will participate in
the Multicultural Retail 360 Summit's "Cultural
Immersion Tour" on Aug. 24 in San Diego.
Summit attendees who specifically register
for the tour will visit several multicultural retailers in the San Diego market via chartered
bus from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 24 as
a kickoff to the three-day event. The Summit's
regular program begins at 4 p.m. that day at
the Hilton San Diego Bayfront.
The annual Multicultural Retail 360 Summit
is presented by Stagnito Business Information + Edgell Communications, parent company of Convenience Store News and Progressive Grocer and sister company to the Path to
Purchase Institute.
Subtitled "Optimizing the Omnichannel
Experience for Multicultural Consumers," this
year's Summit will focus on how multicultural consumers use the Internet, social media
and their mobile devices, while also showing
retailers how to engage with nontraditional
consumer segments and what organizational
and strategic requirements are necessary to
grow their business through a multicultural
focus.
For the third consecutive year, the Summit is being co-chaired by multicultural executives from two of the world's largest retail chains. Javier Delgado-Granados, senior

marketing manager for Walmart, and Angel
Colon, director of multicultural development
for Kroger, lead an advisory board composed
of representatives from 13 leading retail organizations who provide essential input and
feedback on the conference programming.
Stagnito + Edgell will launch a new awards
program at this year's event: the Multicultural
Retail Hall of Fame. Isabel Valdes, CEO of Isabel Valdes Consulting, will be the inaugural
inductee.
"The main criteria is someone who was a
pioneer in multicultural marketing - someone who was advocating for greater attention to the growing number of multicultural
consumers in the United States before others recognized the opportunity, or someone
who developed a new way of looking at these
emerging consumer groups," says Don Longo,
editorial director of Multicultural Retail 360.
The induction ceremony will take place on
Thursday, Aug. 25.
Executives from Jewel-Osco, Safeway and
Facebook are among the Summit's scheduled
speakers. Emmy Award-winning actor John
Leguizamo will deliver a keynote speech at
5:45 p.m. on Aug. 24.
