Pinterest announced on its blog two successful case studies of brands using
"Cinematic Pins," which are Promoted Pins that run on the mobile phone but
reveal animated images as users scroll the page. L'Oreal USA's L'Oreal Paris
brand used the pins to demo its new Lumi glow highlighter. Standard pins
showed static images of the product, but Cinematic Pins were used to animate the highlighter in action. Gunning for women aged 18-34, L'Oreal said
the effort reached 5 million people. A second case study showed how Hershey Co.'s Reese's brand worked with the Pin Factory, Pinterest's in-house
creative testing studio, to rollout Cinematic Pins that animated fun and
creative ways to use its peanut butter cups and candy in recipes.
